T&B Inmate Solutions

A letter can change a life.

T&B Inmate Solutions keeps pen pal listings for people in state and federal prisons. Families send us a photo and a few honest lines, we post them here, and someone on the outside writes back. It costs nothing to look, and one message is all it takes to start.

Questions? Call 463-288-7417 — we answer families, friends and inmates.

We are a small operation. We answer the phone ourselves and we handle the parts that are impossible to do from inside.

More about us

How it works, start to letter

  1. 01

Send us a photo and a few lines

A family member, a friend, or the person themselves sends us a photograph and a short bio — who they are, what they like, what they are hoping for.

  2. 02

We read it and post the listing

Every submission is read by a person before it goes up. Then it appears on the listings page with a photo, their age, where they are, and their words.

  3. 03

Someone writes, and we get it to them

Anyone browsing can send one message through the site. We print it out and get it to the person it was written for, so it arrives as a letter they can hold.

Jesse, 32

Jesse, 32

State custody · Oregon

State Correctional Facility

I am 32 and I have been drawing since I was a kid. I paint with whatever I can get my hands on in here — mostly colored pencil and coffee. I am working toward a degree through the correspondence program, slowly. I would like to trade letters with somebody creative, or honestly anybody who will tell me what is going on out there. I am behind on the news by about six years.

Gary, 57

State custody · Pennsylvania

State Correctional Facility

I am 57, from outside Pittsburgh. I have a life sentence and I have made my peace with most of it. I write a lot — short pieces, letters, the beginnings of a book I will probably never finish. I fished every creek in western Pennsylvania before I came in and I can still tell you which ones are worth it. Write me something long. I will write you something longer.

Memberships

Keep their listing live

A membership keeps a listing published so people can keep finding them and writing to them. Pick a plan, pay by card, and it renews on its own until you stop — monthly or yearly, whichever suits you. Set it up once and forget about it.

Paying by check or money order?

Plenty of our families do, and it is no trouble. Send it in, we post the listing, and we keep the renewal date on our side so nothing lapses. Tell us when you want it to run out and we will keep an eye on it for you.

The mail is the one door that stays open

A sentence takes away a person’s address, their job, their phone, and most of the people who used to call. What it cannot take is the mail. A letter gets through, and the person holding it is not just an inmate number for the ten minutes it takes to read.

That is why the listings are the center of this site, and why everything else we do — printing photos, forwarding mail, keeping a phone balance alive, running a page, handling the paperwork — is built to keep one more line open between somebody inside and somebody who has not forgotten them.

Ask us anything
